General Education

I have completed 4 out of the 6 required GEs and I would have to say that GE 5, Arts and Letters category, has been my favorite thus far. Within this category I was able to take a class called Reason and the Unbearable Lightness of Being with Professor Sarah Pratt. In this class I discovered one of my new favorite books, The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera.

We started of Kundera’s book and his ideas of “lightness” and “weight” and other simple yet complex contrasts and juxtapositions and applied them to other books such as Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen and Notes From Underground (another new favorite) by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. This class exposed to me to works of literature and ways of thinking you don’t necessarily have to focus on within your business studies.

I loved this class and the professor. If you enjoy philosophical reads, I suggest you take it! Hopefully you’ll discover new favorite books like I did. Also Professor Pratt is fantastic!
