Halloween and Holiday Breaks at SC

Whether you’re dressing up as a superhero, a minion, or the ever infamous “I just put whiskers on my face”. Halloween is a great time. You get the chance to do things, like carving pumpkins and hanging decorations, that remind you a little bit of home. Though, trick or treating isn’t always the easiest, you can always stop by the local CVS and grab tons of candy without all the work.

This year halloween was extra special because it fell on the eve of the weekender game against Cal! A lot of students, faculty, and alumni made the trip up to the Bay Area, in order to cheer on our fellow Trojans.

For those that didn’t make the trip up to the game, there was still lots going on, on campus. From halloween parties, to pumpkin carving contests, to professors making halloween themed lectures. The residential government put on some fun activities, where everyone could come and hangout for the festivities. A few people even ventured to Universal Horror Nights or to Hollywood for the weekend festivities.

Though besides Halloween, the weather is finally cooling down and feeling a lot more like fall/winter. Only took until November, gotta love LA. Though that temperature change means that Thanksgiving break is right around the corner. For many this may include a long awaited trip home after four months, many will bring their friends that they have made home for the break, and many will stay on campus and celebrate the ever famous Friendsgiving. The latter full of attempts to cook in dorm kitchens and of course lots of unforgettable laughs and memories. One doesn’t have to celebrate the holiday in order to eat some good food and enjoy a great time with those that they love.

No matter how you choose to celebrate, theres always something or someone that will help make these days a little bit more memorable. What upcoming holiday are you excited for and why?

I’m personally really excited for the food, yum!
