The college football season has been over for a month now. And with the SuperBowl last Sunday, so is the NFL. So what do I do without these sports to fill up my Saturday and Sunday afternoons? Nap. But seriously, I get more sleep and have more time to relax during the Spring semester. I have more time to do homework since a whole day over the weekend opens up without football. Now, don’t get me wrong, I LOVE football season. It’s just totally different in the Spring.
More free time = more trips to Disneyland for me. If you actually read my blogs you may get tired of my endless Disneyland references. I apologize. But it’s true. I’ve been twice in the past 2 weeks, and I will probably set foot in the Happiest Place on Earth at least once this upcoming weekend (it’s a long weekend!). But what else happens on Spring weekends? Well for one there are certainly more random fun adventures. Whether it’s up to the mountains for a snow trip or out to the ocean for some waves, I usually do both at least once a Spring. There’s always 1 weekend in January where the sun is shining, the air is warm and half of the school heads out to the beach. Santa Monica, Venice, Dockweiler…so many options!
It’s also a great time to go hiking. There are some awesome places like in Malibu to just explore and have fun with friends. Here’s a pic of a random hiking trip I took a couple years ago on a Spring weekend.
I live in a house with 9 guys, and we’re all a part of the same Christian organization, Cru. Every Saturday during the Spring we open our house and make brunch for our friends! We can’t really do this in the fall because of football, but in the Spring we try and do this every week. It’s a great time to enjoy a meal together, hang out, make friends, and just have a lazy Saturday morning…plus I make a mean chocolate chip pancake. Yummy brunch!
So Spring is just as busy, but a different kind of busy. I like to be able to sleep in and have a casual brunch with friends and then a chill afternoon, maybe doing homework, maybe not. Plus, the days are getting longer, the weather is (supposed to be) getting nicer. Love it.
