My Most Challenging Project at USC
The most challenging project I have had to do in a business/accounting class was in BUAD 285a (financial accounting) last semester. It was my second semester freshman year and I had Professor Sweeney (one of my favorite professors of all time). In her class we had to do a group project which we then presented to professionals from the Big Four accounting firms (along with some other companies). We had to chose a publicly traded company and review all the important financial documents, such as the end of the year reports, etc. We chose to do our project on the J.M. Smucker Company, and there were pages and pages of questions that we had to answer and we needed to come up with a creative way to present all the material we learned. Not only was it difficult to read and interpret the financial documents but it was a nerve-racking experience presenting to people who were experts in the field. Luckily, my group did very well and we ended up winning best in-class presentation! This goes to show that you should always feed the judges! (we brought smuckers pb&j sandwiches to class). I learned an incredible amount in a very short period of time but it was definitely the most stressful group project I have ever had to do.
