My Summer Internship
Welcome back, Trojans! Hope you all had a great summer!
This past summer, I was an intern at Western Digital, the nation’s leading hard drive manufacturer in Irvine, CA. I specialized in Brand Protection as well as Business and Legal Risk Analysis. I primarily worked in the Trademark and Copyright division of the Legal Department on several projects, all of which were extremely interesting and rewarding. My main project was working with the International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition, District Attorney, Department of Homeland Security, and other private investigators on a multi-state counterfeit investigation where we conducted takedowns of online listings selling counterfeit WD products. I also performed multi-brand market research and web traffic analysis to assist with protecting the WD brand. Finally, I worked with Intellectual Property attorneys on our end user license software agreements and terms of service.
As interns at Western Digital, we also had several intern events. Every Friday, we had “Brown Bag Lunch & Learns,” where executives from different departments would come in and share what they did. This was the perfect time to not only hear about engineering, finance, marketing, etc but also a networking opportunity! Other than that, we had some fun events too, such as going to an Angel’s game!
Overall, I learned so much from this summer internship. Having the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and attorneys was an experience that I would not want to trade for anything else.
