Nature’s Brew: The Best New Place to Eat Near Campus!
One of the best parts about Los Angeles is its plethora of great restaurants and cafes. Without a car, my dining options are slightly more limited, but lucky for me there are lots of great places to eat near campus. For breakfast I love Jack’s and Joe’s pancakes, for lunch Margarita Pizza offers affordable yet quality pizza, and for dinner nothing compares to Pasta Roma. But what about somewhere for just coffee or a snack? My most recent discovery is a new place called Nature’s Brew, a coffee shop several blocks north of campus just off Hoover.
I love the unique atmosphere of small coffee shops and frankly, I’m a bit of a coffee addict. Back home in Montana, we had a variety of small independent coffee shops, but with all the restaurants in the downtown L.A. area, I couldn’t seem to find a coffee shop that wasn’t Starbucks or the Coffee Bean. And then I heard about Nature’s Brew! A friend had instagrammed a picture of a colorful smoothie in a mason jar, and I had to know where it was from. Little did I know that this place was right down the street! Since then, it has become one of my favorite places to go after class. Nature’s Brew offers great coffee, pastries, smoothies, sandwiches and salads. On most occasions I’ll stick with my usual, a vanilla latte. Then, if I’m feeling a little hungry, I have a hard time deciding between the cookies and pastries: they offer different choices every day, from a lemon lavender to a maple bacon cookie, a delicious kale and feta bureka or several different kinds of quiche.
Ample seating also makes Nature’s Brew a great place to study. The atmosphere is much calmer than either Starbucks near campus and the service is great! I’m so glad that I finally have a place to study, get a little caffeine into my system and eat some delicious food. I mean… calories don’t count when you’re “working” them off right??
