One of the Best Surprises at Marshall is…

As a freshman, the one thing that surprised me most about USC Marshall was the easy accessibility of taking core business courses. When I was accepted into the Leventhal School of Accounting, I had already felt fortunate because many of my high school peers who were interested in business were unable to apply to their respective universities’ business schools as a freshman. I didn’t take anything for granted. During my first year, I took Accounting I, Business Statistics, Microeconomics, and Macroeconomics; in contrast, some of my friends at other universities had to take prerequisite courses, such as calculus, before moving on to core business classes.

Many of my friends here at Marshall have also taken advantage of the courses offered to anyone at the freshman level. Some other courses that first-year students can take include Marketing, Leading Organizations, and Operations Management. You’d be hard-pressed to find another business school in the nation that can provide such a well-rounded business education right from the beginning of any student’s academic career. If you’re a prospective student hoping to kick-start your business education without having to worry about prerequisites, the ability to take business courses immediately is just one of many reasons why Marshall is a premier program.
