Pursing Multiple Interests at USC – Double Majoring
If you have ever attended a Marshall information session, the admission staffs will tell you that picking up another major or minor is possible. But you might think, Is this really true? Can I still graduate in 4 years?
Well, ask any Marshall students what their major is and more often than not, they will respond with “I’m majoring in Business Administration with a minor in _____” or “I am double majoring in Accounting and ______.” Most of these students will also graduate within 4 years. So the answers to the above questions are an absolute yes!
I am currently double majoring in Business Administration and Environmental Studies. I fell in love with the environment after taking AP Environmental Science in high school. Coming to college, I wanted to integrate my passion for both business and the environment into my academics. Fortunately, USC has provided me the way to do so. As a student pursuing a double major, I really get the best of both worlds. I am able to take a variety of unique classes including Economics of Natural Resources and Negotiation and Persuasion. Unlike in high school where the schedules are set and standard for every student, at USC I am able to take the classes that best fits my interests.
One of the biggest advantages in picking up another major or minor is the opportunities available to you from multiple schools. For example, as a double major in Business Administration and Environmental Studies, I have access to internships, job, and events from both the Marshall School of Business and Dana and David Dornsife.
USC encourages students to pursue different interests by offering a flexible course plan. Just look at the Marshall School of Business sample course plans and you will get a sense of the number of units open to a double major or a minor.
