The Concert SCene at USC!
While I am excited to reunite with all my friends after winter break, I absolutely cannot wait to see Pentatonix perform on Wednesday in the Campus Center Ballroom.
For those of you who don’t know, Pentatonix is a breakout acapella sensation consisting of five talented vocalists. One of their members, Scott Hoying, is actually a USC alumnus. I have been anticipating the day I can finally see the group in person, and I can’t believe USC Program Board has been able to invite them, allowing USC students to see them for free!
This is just one example of the many opportunities USC students can take advantage of to see their favorite artists at USC or in the surrounding Los Angeles area. On campus last year, we had Cobra Starship perform at Conquest to pump us up for the football game against our biggest rival, UCLA.
Because USC is located so close to L.A. Live, students can conveniently go to see popular artists perform at venues such as the Nokia Theater or Staples Center. Some artists coming to L.A. Live in the upcoming months include Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, and Maroon 5.
One of my friends even won free tickets at a booth stationed at Tommy Trojan. He was able to go see Gotye in concert!
For classical music buffs such as myself, USC offers the Visions and Voices initiative, allowing students the opportunity to go to Disney Hall and watch the L.A. Philharmonic perform.
Even seeing USC music ensembles such as the Thornton Symphony or acapella groups such as the SoCal VoCals is a musical treat. It is amazing to see how talented my fellow USC students are!
Overall, Los Angeles is a hotspot for awesome concerts and popular artists. Be sure to take advantage of these opportunities!
