What classes am I taking this semester and what am I looking forward to/like most about them?
I am extremely excited about my classes this semester, they are all very interesting and I feel like I am learning such cool, applicable information.
One of my favorites is my upper division business class: The Art and Science of Decision Making. This class focuses on how people process information and make choices, rather than how they would make decisions if they were fully rational and selfish individuals. We look at how nature, causes, and consequences of such deviations from “optimal” choice. We discuss different frameworks for keeping biases in check, for understanding when to rely on intuition and when not to, and for improving your ability to generate excellent alternatives and make decisions you can stand behind proudly. My mind is blown every class period and I feel like I am learning so much and just looking at the world a different way. Our professor, Cheryl Wakslak, always enhances our lecture with current media portrayals that really allow me to understand the concepts better, as well as makes the class much more stimulating.
