Winter Break Plans
With the semester wrapping up quickly and finals looming over me, I could not be more excited for winter break to officially start. I am looking forward to escaping the stresses of school for a full month of relaxing and recharging before the new semester begins. In high school, I always felt rushed and frazzled during the short two-week winter break, so I plan to utilize this month-long break to my full advantage!
For my first part of winter break, I plan on catching up with friends from high school. With my high school friends now scattered all over the nation, there is nothing better than all reuniting back home and hearing everyone’s fun college stories. My friends and I love revisiting our favorite restaurants, cafes, and shops in Orange County that we frequented while in high school. Since I live pretty close to the beach, we also love spending the day sitting on the sand and either sipping on milkshakes from Ruby’s Shake Shack in Newport Beach, or enjoying some acai bowls from Banzai Bowls in Laguna Beach. Thankfully, Southern California winters are mild enough for us to still enjoy the beach in December! I am beyond excited to spend my break relaxing with old friends and also visit some of my younger friends that are still in high school.
Of course, winter break would not be complete with some quality family bonding. Now that I am in college, I have especially come to value my family and the time spent with them. My mom and I love spending the day together getting lunch, shopping, and chatting, so I know that will be on the agenda for this break. My family also loves to drive around the local neighborhoods around where I live in Orange County to look at the spectacular Christmas lights that houses have up.
For the final part of winter break, my family and I are heading off to Tokyo and Hong Kong for vacation. I am excited to revisit Tokyo, a city I have been before but have little recollection of. As a sushi lover, I have already started researching the best sushi spots in Tokyo! I also am counting down the days until Hong Kong, since it is one of my favorite cities in the world. I have extended family in Hong Kong, so I always look forward to seeing them. A couple of my close friends also live in Hong Kong, so it is always a blast getting to catch up with them after so much time apart and explore new parts of the city together. One of my friends and I already have plans to ride the ferry across the harbor and explore Kowloon, a bustling part of the Hong Kong with amazing food, shopping, and sights.
With so many fun things planned for winter break, I am ready to finish those finals and prepare for a stress-free month!
